So, since I got bored of spamming Facebook, I decided to move on over to LJ. Because it's harder to spam.

Three things, in no particular order:

1) Clockwork Princess came out today. My copy is on its way to a friend's house who will deliver it to my parents' house when they get back from Florida and where it will stay until I get there in August 2014. Oh well.

2) So, I'm not even pretending I'm not watching Robinhood anymore, because 11 episodes in, what's the point? I may be watching for the silly more than the pretty now, however. There's a lot of pretty, don't get me wrong, but the silly is much larger. And Guy's attempts to woo Marion are nothing short of hilarious.

3) SAD FIC

Title: Assuming Fatherhood

Disclaimer: Not mine. Not Peter Jackson's. 99% Tolkien's. The other 1% I reserve because this is not my head canon, but it's not anyone else's I know either.

AN: Right, I completely created my own head-canon for this story which I will probably then ignore in future. Still, the tragedy of having Fili and Kili’s father die at this particular time makes the whole story even sadder. And I like sad. Take it as you will.

Summary: Kili spends the first five years of his life convinced Thorin is his father. Fili finds this amusing. Dis finds this sad. Thorin finds it more than a little horrifying.

Right, well, I slightly recind my love of the new Fb timeline. I am hoping it's a starting glitch, but every single time I click or change anything, it refreshes itself and returns to the top of the page. Which is ANNOYING AS HELL.

In other news, there was apple, raisin and cinnamon crepes today with a large cinnamon mocha and I only missed the maple syrup a littlebit.

Spent 20 minutes in circles on the tax automated system that HMRC have and discovered there is actually NO WAY to get a real person on the line, no matter what you press.  However, I think the 'nice English lady' answered the questions I had anyways, so there's.  Which is good, because their website, though extensive, failed to give me a straight answer about ANYTHING.  I don't like ambiguous.  It bugs me.

Lastly, I have a stack of 12 papers (blessedly the longest is 2400 words) on my desk that need to be marked by Friday.  Considering my day tomorrow (and the fact that today is almost over and not a single one has been looked at), I guess I know what I'm going Thurs/Fri.  On the upshot, 12 essays is lots of money!  And I still have my work from Monday to be paid to me next week.  And there are essays in March too for marking.  In still other news, I may get back to paper writing on, oh, Saturday? Which will be a week from when I started writing it.  Unless I get something done in the next few hours.  Maybe to 2000?  My outline hasn't even been approved yet though, so I don't want to get too far into it.  Decisions, decisions.  And Castle.  And tea.  I spent faaaar too much on groceries today, but bought a whole wack of healthy stuff again (third week running now) and all the stuff I need (minus, unfortunately, black pudding) for a fry-up!  And icing for the cupcakes I am making for the bake sale next week.

Which I should write in my day planner before I forget.

And Morrisons now sells proper food dye for icing.  The gel kind!

So: nice food colouring, answered questions, and the 1950s, which inspired my outfit today!

I sort of like the new Facebook timeline. This statement will probably get me lynched, but there it is. I played around with it for more than an hour last night, getting it sorted before it went live (by my choice). It goes live for everyone on the 26th, so you might want to have a browse around it now, and delete what you don't want the public to see [alternatively, go into you new privacy settings and put 'friends' for everything].

It seems that Matt Smith is going to be The Star in the Reasonably Priced Car next Top Gear. I am insanely happy, because the Chris and David episodes are hilarious, though Billy Piper's is by far the best. And now I'm wondering when Karen might do it. And hoping that she will!

In other news, I look awesome today! Lovely and match-y match-y with my new clothes swap dress and already owned accessories! Just need to get the right colour tank top and I can wear the other tunic dress too!

I am being far too entertained by the happenings in the department lately. It must say something (not good) about me that I need to live vicariously through the lives of other people. But it is a daily comfort to know that my life isn't worse than (or better than) anyone else's, for the most part. We're all equal in this!

Lastly: grey, paycheques and heat are my road to happiness words today. I'm getting good at shortening what I'm grateful for down to such small things! But it's the little things that count.

Finds people who can insult you while giving a compliment are a scar on the face of humanity.
