Yeah, that's so much better than Happy Easter.

[And that was not sarcasm.]

It's Easter. And I can't eat chocolate. Which is a good thing, except for the fact that I can't eat chocolate. Why did my body decide that now was a good time of year to develop food intolerances? Seriously.

However, I can still have sugar! Although, ironically, I've never liked sugar in large quantities and find eating candy (sugar candy, as opposed to chocolate) sort of sickening. Which is a healthy attitude, all told. But still.

This post doesn't really have a point. I have three articles I'm supposed to read today and they may actually be the most BORING three I have to read for this entire paper. Also, I know that if I just sit down and read them, it'll take about 2 hours and then I'll be done. And then I'll be bored with nothing to do as opposed to just procrastination induced boredom.

Much like yesterday. And the day before. And the day before that. Basically, that's been my week. I need to find something to do tomorrow or risk insanity. I have dinner tomorrow night, but no one seems to be around during the day. I should go to the library in the morning, but that won't last passed lunch. Which leaves me 6 hours of nothingness. It's Easter. My flatmates are gone. In fact, the entirety of Nixon may be gone, except the guy who lives above me and plays loud Indian music all day. Fancy that. I could go into the centre tomorrow and wander, but that's boring with one person (and always ends up involving spending money. Which I don't need to do.) Not very many options all told. No movies (seriously, no movies, except Bel Ami which...you couldn't pay me).

I'm a bit lost, to be honest. I feel like I should be doing work, because I have tons, but I've sort of mentally scheduled it for various timeslots which are not this weekend. And I really need to finish this reasearch before I do much else.
windemere: (Easter eggs)
It's sunny outside. I was out in t-shirt and skirt for the second day running. It's been a quiet Sunday and I slept really well. Gone are the days when such little things were enough to make everything alright!

I managed to get nothing done this morning, partly because (with the clock change) I slept until 10am, which rather destroys the vast part of the morning. And then I watch telly and ate a begal. After that I forced myself to go to the library instead of eat lunch (2 hours after breakfast). I was doing great, until Anita (one of my flatmates) presented me with Easter chocolate eggs. So there went that idea out the window. However, I never ate lunch, and only snacked at 3pm on crackers and cheese and a plum, so on the whole I'm doing not badly. So long as I can go the rest of tonight without more snacking, but the fajitas were rather filling, so there's hope.

Yesterday I bought the Hunger Games (1st book) with firm intention to wait until I saw the movie on Thursday to read it. Wow, I suck at best laid plans. I have promised to only read Part 1, however, because I pretty much know what happens from the trailer and hype anyways. But the rest...I'll hide it if I have to. And I have no time the next 3 days anyways, really.

Speaking of the next three days...tomorrow is an 8 hour day. Tuesday is a 13 hour day. Wednesday is another 8 hour day. Normally, that means lots of actually free time, but I have research that I need to do when I'm not at the conference presentations, other grunt work and I want to go to the Brown Bag Wednesday, so I won't even get lunch off that day. Thursday I will either pass out or be really productive. Could go either way. Could be both, in fact. But then there will be Hunger Games if it kills me (it may just).

Saturday, I plan to take the day off. I don't have high hopes of that actually happening, because I will probably realise how much work I have to do and only a week left to do it and panic. And panic is a really good motivator for working.

I did, however, pack for Canada today, because I'm not taking back anything I need, just some stuff I haven't worn and lots of presents and such. That was relatively painless, as packing goes. The return trip will not be.

Two weeks of hunched over a desk reading and typing has led to a permanent ache between my shoulder blades that no amount of stretching or pilates has cured. It's not painful, but it is damn annoying and does twinge if I twist the wrong way. As the next three days I really need to be in decent shape, this is a bad thing. Amazingly, it hasn't led to a headache yet. I'm just waiting now...

I am watching a BBC version of the love story of poet John Keats. God is it boring. It's not a good weekend on BBC, apparently. I might have to try ITV!

I really need it to be April 7th, because then my work will be done, for better or worse and I will be about to go to London and the V&A and then on a plane! And even though it's Canada, travel gets me excited. And the first 5 days will be really good...

OMG! I loved it ALL! From Alexis to Martha to Beckett to Castle being an ass about an old girlfriend to Gates being bitchy. I expected about five seconds more at the end, though. It cut a little too quickly. Very nice homage to James Bond's 50th anniversary, I think. Can't wait for the next episode!

I am loving this show and all it's quirks. The phone thing never gets old, or the books, or anything and everything.

In other news, my first Graze box came this morning; well, last night actually, but the mail room was closed by then. Yummy treats to try! I've already had the dried strawberries, blueberries, currents, cranberries and sponge pieces. Tomorrow I think I'll try the one with chocolate [I already had a chocolate bar of yummy whipped chocolate and nuts today]. I wish it existed in Canada. Maybe there's a franchise there?

I have so much reading to do tomorrow, and the only part I'm looking forward to it's not for my paper! Haven't been to a [Tea in the Attic] since before xmas, and this is the new format. Hope it works, as I am the one that has to worry about it if it doesn't! I need some fun after the marathon of updating the conference website today. It took me an exhausting 3 hours to finish. Still, I hope there won't be too many changes to be made.

Jacket potato filled with tuna mayo for dinner. I am on day 5 of my road to happiness posts. Today I am thankful for tuna, the library stacks and dried fruit.

Well, it's nearly mid-February and so far my resolution keeping is going rather well (except for 'stop drinking' because that was always going to be a joke. However, I haven't overindulged, so there's that).

Today I learned three important things.

1. I learned that you can buy 14 things from Primark for £38.
2. I learned you say 'no' to a teacher.
3. I learned that a few simple words of kindness in the morning can brighten my entire day (and a piece of chocolate). Thank you sales lady at Thornton's!

I also learned the 5 ways to happiness:

1. Write down 3 things you are grateful for each day.
2. Keep a journal of positive experiences.
3. Exercise.
4. Meditate.
5. Random Acts of Kindness.

So far today, I've kept the last 4, so here are 3 things I am grateful for:

1. I am grateful that I live in England.
2. I am grateful that I have the money to buy clothing, even at Primark.
3. I am grateful for the Thornton's lady and a chocolate smiley face.

I feel happier already.
