windemere: (barrels out of bond)
I'm assuming, once the DVD comes out in March, that perhaps there might be other fan vids on youtube than the heaps and heaps of Fili/Kili slash? Or worse, Thorin/Fili/Kili slash? Also, set to much better music than seems to currently be on offer. One can only hope.

On that note, the fan vids after the EE of There and Back Again are going to KILL ME. I'm going to need therapy or some other fandom that doesn't kill off main charactes.

[On that note as well, everyone on my f-list has read the Hobbit right? We all know how this ends?]

Still going...I will not read The Hobbit. I will not read The Hobbit. I will finish Cloud Atlas so I have some idea what the hell is going on when I see the movie, and I will spend the next week squeeing over Richard [the III, honestly, which Richard did you think I was talking about?] and then finish Battle Royale. I will not read The Hobbit. Not until August 2014.

Lastly, there are some really depressing character driven Spooks fan vids on YouTube. To be fair, the writers and Lucas North have made it rather easy on the fans. Richard Armitage (yes, yes, other Richard, though apparently he might have been named after the King? Which amuses me? In a really ironic sort of way?) does tortured (pun entirely intended) really well. I feel this will come in handy in about, oh, 17 months?

See, I totally made a circular post. Aren't I awesome?

Uh, Fili & Kili fic is going...well...had to go track down the script again. I seem to be quoting Bilbo more than anything. I should probably be worried about that.

Spooks fic is up to the second commercial break. No one has died yet, but I have high hopes for at least some blood later on. Of course, I wrote the ending as the teaser so I know where it ends up...basically. Always start a spy thriller with a gun to someone's head.

And Castle this week? Can I just say? EVIL BASTARD. It's sort of like Heroes all over again, except worse. And I am missing Alexis and Martha these days. Feels like it's been ages since we've seen them. Or any Castle/Beckett kissykissy.

Again, circular post. I need to...bake a lot this weekend. And eat a lot. And see Lincoln and Richard. How is this my life? It's awesome.

Well, of a sort. I've basically promised myself not to get obsessed with things anymore, because it doesn't end well and I don't have the time to devote. But it doesn't mean I can't really like something!

About a month ago I got into watching Alcatraz and thought, 'hey, this is a pretty good show. It's got a good cast. The plot is interesting enough. And it's JJ Abrams. I'll give him one more chance.' And then I finished the 13 episodes and promptly said 'what the hell am I going to watch now?'

And someone told me about Person of Interest. Alcatraz was fun and Fringe was pissing me off, so I thought I'd give it a go. After all, JJ Abrams can't do worse than he's already done to destroy my psyche. Blessedly, that seems to be holding true. I've got through 20 episodes (the season is nearly over now) and I have to say that I'm really enjoying it. It's a fresh (by which I mean, fresh to tv land) idea and scarily true and really well written. I enjoy shows where lots of stuff blows up, mostly people just get shot in the knees (not always) and there's great banter. I've rather missed that on television in fact.

I think half the reason I'm enjoying it is seeing Michael Emerson play someone who is not trying to KILL EVERYONE EVERY SECOND OF THE EPISODE. It's a nice change. He does mysterious nice guy pretty well.

The other half of the reason is definitely Jim Caviezel, because he may be a 15 years older than me (and married), but I'm not blind ladies. Not even remotely. I like a man who knows how to handle a gun. :D

I'm already thinking that 'Baby Blue' is my favourite episode, for the hilarity and cuteness factor. I don't know where they found that kid, but she could definitely steal a scene without a word. Second favourite might be 'Super' because the banter was brilliant and Finch gave it to the man. And then Reese saved the day anyways with a crutch. Well, two crutches. I'm sure he could have done it with one.

Mostly I am annoyed that there are only 2 episodes left. What will I DO ALL SUMMER? Thankfully, it's been renewed.

And Castle this week? My show is back!

OMG! I loved it ALL! From Alexis to Martha to Beckett to Castle being an ass about an old girlfriend to Gates being bitchy. I expected about five seconds more at the end, though. It cut a little too quickly. Very nice homage to James Bond's 50th anniversary, I think. Can't wait for the next episode!

I am loving this show and all it's quirks. The phone thing never gets old, or the books, or anything and everything.

In other news, my first Graze box came this morning; well, last night actually, but the mail room was closed by then. Yummy treats to try! I've already had the dried strawberries, blueberries, currents, cranberries and sponge pieces. Tomorrow I think I'll try the one with chocolate [I already had a chocolate bar of yummy whipped chocolate and nuts today]. I wish it existed in Canada. Maybe there's a franchise there?

I have so much reading to do tomorrow, and the only part I'm looking forward to it's not for my paper! Haven't been to a [Tea in the Attic] since before xmas, and this is the new format. Hope it works, as I am the one that has to worry about it if it doesn't! I need some fun after the marathon of updating the conference website today. It took me an exhausting 3 hours to finish. Still, I hope there won't be too many changes to be made.

Jacket potato filled with tuna mayo for dinner. I am on day 5 of my road to happiness posts. Today I am thankful for tuna, the library stacks and dried fruit.

Red dress, gun, hair, OMG BECKETT! I am not a lesbian, but she looked very very good. I am more saying it because I am jealous of how very very good she looked. I could not pull that off.

From the Castle site, the opening of the latest episode 'Vampire Weekend' recap:

Halloween is near and Castle is thinking about dressing up as a space cowboy for his big costume party. Anyone else think Nathan Fillion could handle that role with a certain degree of serenity? But we digress, partially because we don’t want to plug another franchise, but primarily because there’s a mystery that needs solving.

I am so totally amused by this whole...thing. And I think I might have to spend tomorrow watching Firefly episodes or Serenity or something. You know, after work.

Thank gods for 8 hour shifts. It staves off the boredom and I get paid for it!

HAHAHAHAAAHAAHAHHHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

You know, I have the best father in the real world. I know this. I wouldn't trade him in for anything. But if I had to pick a best fictional father it was so be RICHARD CASTLE. My gods, I love Nathan Fillion! That was a brilliant episode. And I felt so sorry for Alexis. Friends can suck big time and it always feels like a betrayal. Although I never had someone sabotage a science project on me out of revenge. I can still sympathise.

I MISS MAL REYNOLDS SO VERY VERY MUCH.
