I'm enjoying the novelty of lying in my bed in the sun, because it's finally at the right angle. At least for about 30 minutes of the day, when it's sunny. So for 30 minutes out of the week then.

I have no other news, because I am sick and in bed and managed to miss ALL THE FUN this weekend, including starting my field research. So I'm annoyed and miserable in equal parts. And Not Doing Work because I can't breathe, see or think at even 50% efficiency. Stupid people should keep their stupid germs to themselves!

Why is everyone liking Elementary? I don't get it. I've watched it and I don't get it. Maybe I'm too much of a Sherlock Holmes (I mean the books) fan to tolerate America ripping off a British classic.

Also, the election is in, like 24 hours and I'm TERRIFIED.

I *love* you! I can't even attempt Elementary. I think the US saw a hit, wanted to capitalize on it, and STOLE the idea. I know they didn't steal Sherlock Holmes because plenty of versions of the character exist, but why now? Why suddenly do we need an American Take on this? Because everyone loves Sherlock and there could be money in exploiting it and making people think it is a new, original idea! They see a good thing and they want a piece of it. For me, Dr. Watson can never be female. It spoils the relationship completely. I read the books as a child and so when I watch Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, I want them to be guys. I also want them in London. I like Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in the films, I like Jeremy Irons as Holmes, I like The Great Mouse Detective, I like Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, but I don't see the need for a female Watson or, an American ripoff. I'm sorry you're sick, but I think you have excellent taste when it comes to Sherlock Holmes. The US tried this madness with a version of Top Gear and that was dreadful. We need original programming. There are American fictional detectives. Do a program about one of those. Kinsey Millhone from the Sue Grafton novels would be interesting and I don't think anyone has done that yet. And, hey, she's already female!

*hugs you loads*

Also, the Sue Grafton novels would make excellent material for a telly show me thinks!

Oh, me too. I like that character and I would love to see her on TV.
