Why is it that every single time I try to watch a YouTube video, the construction noise quadruples outside? Every. Single. Time.

This needs a new tag.

[I am totally hiding in my room today, because last night people were REALLY LOUD, so I put up a 'please be respectful and be quiet' sign in the kitchen and now I don't want to talk to anyone.] Yes, I'm a coward. I don't care.

Oh, word count is 1321/1300. And my supervisor is going to kill me, because PhD candidates shouldn't be sarcastic and funny when writing academic papers; we haven't earned it yet.

They were supposed to be done a month ago. We know what that means in construction-speak. I think they are getting close, at least the larger machines are being taken away, but that still leaves plenty of small stuff. Hopefully soon.

Today: 2000 words, call me on it (especially since it is 10am and I am only just getting started now)

I hit 1100 and took a break! I'm allowed! It's not even noon, so as long as my roll continues I hope to get this next section done, as well as the 'look back' part. Tomorrow I can spew out the 'look ahead', which is all just bullshit that will change next month anyways. Or next Tuesday when I pick up a book again.

I am scared to reread it. I also just got my first 'Welcome to Nano' email this morning and nearly threw my computer out the window. I want to do it again this year and I can't. Well, I could, but something that I am spending a lot of money on is going to suffer. This was so much easier when all I did was have a job.

You are doing excellent today. Go you! You earned that break. You *could* go by my time zone and be doing really well. It's 07:08am here.

Can you use Nano to work on your PHD or would that just spoil Nano for you? I'm not doing it this year because my mind is all over the place and I didn't finish last year. I can't focus at the moment. Too much shit clogging up my life at present. maybe next year.

If I had a paper to write next month, I might consider it. But I get a month 'off' before my next one. November is National Reading Month for me instead!

4200/5000 and I am so stopping. Time to catch up on all that tv I've missed this week. And write something non-phd related. I am back to writing short one-shots and enjoying the creativity. I write best when I am doing academic and fiction at the same time; they feed each other.
