Last night I watched 'Amy's Choice' on Space. Not much else was on, it's a good episode, etc. After that was a special InnerSpace devoted to this series of DW. I figured, hey, I don't like the guys on InnerSpace, but it's DW related with interviews with the cast, I'll survive.

In hindsight, not watching it probably would have saved me a month or so of abject self-questionning. I am not unfamiliar with the ways of DW. I get the series archs. I get the mentions all through a series that lead to the finale ('Bad Wolf' for example). But Steven Moffat (if they InnerSpace correspondent is right) has taken what Russell did one step further. To sheer bloody frakked up craziness.

The thing is, subconsciously, I realised. I did that double take for the two scenes in Episode 1 with enough acknowledgement that I spared a brief moment to go 'wait, what?'. And then I moved on, because that's what you were supposed to do. I got the 'miss' in Episode 5 in the woods. I say 'miss' because a lot of people thought it was. But I had the brief (again) moment of 'wait a minute, they wouldn't have missed that in edits, it's too obvious. What's going on?' and then I moved on, as you do. And then I forgot (except not really, I just filed it away in the corner of my brain that waits until the finales to analyse these things and realise how stupid I was to miss it).

Except now I'm looking at it all again and realising that the 'misses' are adding up. And you know what that means.

HIDDEN STORY ARCH!

The things is - the thing that will make Steven Moffat The Most Brilliant Man on Earth - is if the correspondent is right. Because if she's on the right track O.M.F.G. The finale is going to blow everyone's mind. And yes, Steven Moffat is on air saying just that. That it's the most brilliant thing ever for New Who. And, you know what, in all the times I've watched SM interviews, he's never once exaggerated an episode. So...really.

But now I'm thinking about it in my head. Could it really work? Two parallel timelines running in tandem and sometimes intersecting. It's not impossible according to the rules DW has established. It's just mind-boggling to think that from the get go (okay, not quite) there have been two different story lines with Amy and the Doctor. The one where the Doctor was twelve years late and the one where he returned five minutes later. Which might also be the one where Rory never existed for Amy anyways. 'Cold Blood' confuses that a bit. Because if 7-year-old Amelia went away to travel the stars, she didn't need little Rory down the street as a replacement. Which is sort of depressing on the grander scale, seeing as how I like Rory. Dear, sweet Rory who put up with the years of dress up and the failing to quite become a doctor himself and the still getting to marry Amy (except not quite).

But then there's the crack, which is another universe and not just an intersecting timeline. So, is this what happens when the Doctor meddles in his own time stream? Or is it something bigger? And by bigger I mean even bigger than the Cybermen in the finale (as in, they didn't cause it, they're just using it). Is that why it started on Amelia's wall? It really all does come back to her; to the two lives she potentially led. Only one should exist but the fact that there are two of them means reality is cracking? This is the part I assume wiill be answered in the finale. As well as things like, for instance, the Pandorica. Which may be either the results of the cracks or the cause of them. Interesting dilema. It will be bad when it opens though, because the force contained in the Pandorica nearly destroyed the Time Lords once. I have no doubt Pandora has the power to destroy every reality that ever was, is and will be. Including every one containing Amy.

Gods, I hope she's not Pandora.
