This is a whole new kind of pain...

windemereSo, I went diving this weekend. Certainly not the first time. Not even the first in fresh (ie cold) water. But it never hurt this much before.
-I bruised my hips.
-I strained my back and right knee.
-I wrenched by left shoulder.
-I over exhausted myself both Sat. and Sun.
-Oh, and I rather painfully burnt the back of my neck even though I had sunscreen on.
I did have fun though. Well, when I wasn't in pain, at least. I will go again in August. I'm a bare for punishement, non?
It's amusing, as I'm getting free lessons now. Which is cool, It's also amusing, though in perhaps a rather unfortunate way, that I'm more experienced at diving than most new advanced open water divers, and yet, my certification is still for basic, simply because I haven't watched the advanced videos, which of course, tell me nothing the book did not. Something to worry about...oh, around mid-November maybe?
My dad wants to buy me a reg. I'm not quite sure why because a) he hates spending money, b) the money is not his, and c) mom does not want him to. Not, I'd rather have a BCD, which I seem to have a problem with, more so than regs. And well, a BCD is cheaper...if the difference between $1000 and $750 is significant. Huh, early xmas present I think. Though I'd rather have a dive computer when it comes right down to it.
I feel like I've run a marathon, though thankfully the worst of the pain disappeared sometime between 11 last night and 7 this morning. But my back still hurts, and likely will for a few more days. I strained it rather badly trying to grasp at rocks to keep from being swept down the Moon River but the current. It was a 5-finger dive at least. Though I'd classify it closer to a 10-finger. I think I'll steer clear of the Bala Falls for the rest of the summer, it's not nearly as fun swimming in them with 80lbs of gear on.
But dry suit diving is so much better than freezing in cold water!
