I'm enjoying the novelty of lying in my bed in the sun, because it's finally at the right angle. At least for about 30 minutes of the day, when it's sunny. So for 30 minutes out of the week then.

I have no other news, because I am sick and in bed and managed to miss ALL THE FUN this weekend, including starting my field research. So I'm annoyed and miserable in equal parts. And Not Doing Work because I can't breathe, see or think at even 50% efficiency. Stupid people should keep their stupid germs to themselves!

Why is everyone liking Elementary? I don't get it. I've watched it and I don't get it. Maybe I'm too much of a Sherlock Holmes (I mean the books) fan to tolerate America ripping off a British classic.

Also, the election is in, like 24 hours and I'm TERRIFIED.

I think I like it because I hate Sherlock Holmes so much. It's the first interpretation I've ever come across that doesn't make me want to kill everyone in the main cast. For the first time, Holmes is a decent person, and Watson isn't the enabler who allows Holmes's worst character traits free-reign.

EYA: What I mean is that usually when Americans rip off a British show, it's awful, but this one seems to have been given a lot of thought (unlike, say, Viva Laughlin), and built up so that it's more of a reimagining than a retelling.

Also, I adore both Lucy Liu and Johnny Lee Miller, and I kind of like that each mystery is less about the WHO (which is usually pretty obvious), and more about the HOW (forcing Sherlock to be a real boy as he looks for proof, instead of moaning about how he's so great an regular humans suck so much for not just assuming that he's god, a la Cumberbatch).

Fair enough, although the actual Sherlock Holmes stories are much less like any of the current version on film/telly. Holmes is much less a egoist and a conceited bastard in them, and Watson is just being a good friend and partner. I can give it credit as a reimagining, but they pick a hell of a time for it and it hasn't been popular over here because of that.
