I've always been a Sherlock kind of girl, for better or (significantly) worse. I blame it on reading Jane Eyre at an impressionable age - wounded men with dark histories who require a morally-upright sidekick for emotional support are a personal weakness.

I was thinking last night about the differences between Canon!Sherlock and Moffat!Sherlock, and I do think that whereas ACD's creation is significantly more Bohemian and more reactive (he is happy to defend himself, but he will not attack pre-emptively), Sherlock is much more threatening because he's a loose cannon and very aggressive. It's the difference between a scent hound and a wolf, if you will...
