I accomplished something impressive yesterday. Well, a couple of things, actually. The first was to get my photo taken with the Mayor of Burlington. I talked to him about the Midlands in England for a while, because he and his wife visited there ten years ago.
Last night, despite being about ready to collapse after 8 hours outside in the heat halling, slicing, running and serving strawberries (and ice cream!) we went up to the dog park north of the city where you can see from Toronto to Hamilton and all the way to the far shore of Lake Ontario (nearly to Rochester NY in fact). So, I saw a fair few of the fireworks displays, including a few closer ones there were private. Niagara Falls, way off in the distance was obvious, partly because it went on for so long and mostly because a lot of the rockets were red, which really showed up against the night sky! We definitely had the best view possible.
Went off to the Hamilton Steam & Technology Museum today for a belated Father's Day gift. Managed a private tour with a great guide! Really interesting to see and fun to watch the old steam powered water turbines running on modern electricity instead! Amazing what they could build in the mid-1800's.
I'm taking the rest of today off. Tomorrow I have to work and go to the driving range.
