Doctor Who: Thoughts So Far

When this series started I promised myself that the last thing I would do was ship Eleven/anyone. I swore it. I've even avoided fanfic, which usually leads to shipping.

I should have known Steven Moffat would ensure otherwise. Because about now I'm pretty much willing to ship him with anything. Even the ship. Maybe especially the ship. I think he coos to it. But Eleven/Amy? In a completely we-are-never-actually-going-to-hook-up-EVER way, I'm shipping with a grin on my face.

Pity about missing the Queen Elizabeth episode. Although, kids programme. ;)

You know what I love about this season? I mean, more than I love anything (everything) else? It's the fact that Steven Moffat can not only carry a seasonal story arch a lot more obviously than Russell, but Moffat goes out of his way to see that the little questions are answered. I like those, because they make writing fanfic so much more like canon.

The best one yet: He calls the TARDIS 'dear'.

Followed very closely by the latest from Vampires in Venice, that the sonic screwdriver (and I'm willing to admit, it's the new one, but, you know) can heal. And it still doesn't open dead lock seals. Pity; I'm sure that would come in handy in other episodes besides The Time of Angels.

I could write forever about the first 6 episodes, but what's the point? You don't want to read it. It sounds better in my head anyways.

I will says this: the first two minutes of Vampires of Venice was golden. Absolutely frakking fantastic. And I'm sorta partial to Rory now. It's nice to have the 'young ones' travelling in the TARDIS again. It's been - what? - 25 or 30 years since there were multiple people in their twenties the Doctor willingly invited on board. About that. It makes for a nice change. And a hell of a funny love triangle, since it really isn't a triangle. Except to Amy. Although next week might clinch that because it's obvious what her choice is going to be; we wouldn't have the rest of the season otherwise.

I went ahead and read your post in spite of the fact that I have only seen three episodes at this point. Still, I am finding a great deal to enjoy in it and that was very unexpected for me. I wasn't expecting to like the new Doctor at all and yet I really do enjoy him.
I was hooked from the eating scene at Amy's house really. "You're Scottish. Fry something!" and where he kept saying he liked a food and then finding out he didn't like it at all the minute he tasted it. I adored the way little Amy kept trying to find *something* this odd visitor would eat. You could tell right then that this girl was no quitter.

I loved the second episode with the space whale. I like the way it showed how Amy was going to think for herself no matter how out of her element she was. Her insight into the Doctor and the space whale was brilliant.

I think my favorite part about the new season is Amy Pond.

I haven't seen any other travel companion except Amy but after reading your post I am looking forward to finding out who else is coming along for the ride.

I have to make new icons now. All I have are this Tardis Travel icon, Rose and Nine, and then Ten and the Tardis. I think I will look around for something with Amy.
