Three times is bloody Fortuna rearing her pretty head.

For the last 3 episodes of LotS that I have watched the day after they have aired, I have, within 24 hours read a chapter in the Sword of Truth books that dealt with exactly the same topic. What has me finally worried is that, after last weekend's episode ('Conversion') in which Kahlan experiences the Con Dar, I read that night a chapter in 'Confessor' in which Richard talks about it for the first time in...10 books. That's just...defying logical probabilities.

500 pages to go. Right now, things are not looking good, but the explanations are coming page after page and I am doing pretty well at staying just ahead of the characters' realizations. However, there are a couple of major problems that need to be cleared up in those 500 pages. Not the least of which is the Richard and Kahlan (seperately) are both stuck smack damn bang in the middle of Jagang's entire army which is itself sitting right at the heels of the People's Palace (which ironically means Richard is being held as a capitive in sight of his palace!). This is rather a large problem I forsee as, with 3 million soldiers, I really don't think plausible escape is, you know, plausible.

Also a rather glaring issue is the fact that Jagang has just found the entrance to the catacombs under the palace and is going to gleefully invade in some really ingenious way (the lovely and annoying thing about this particular enemy is that he's too fucking intelligent) and no one knows it's coming. Lastly, Goodkind has just put a definitive deadline on the last 500 pages happening within one year. Which is great, really, except that the army is already there. The Boxes of Orden are already in Jagang's control. Richard and Kahlan are already captive. Nicci has already done the stupidest and most brilliant thing imaginable (she's so not going to survive this - the genius ones never do). Shota is MIA as is Chase, both of whom are massive wild cards waiting to unleash hell. And there's something very very wrong going on with Six and not only does no one know, I don't know! 500 pages...

I've ranted enough for today. I am very bored and at the same time pissed off enough for many reasons that I can't focus enough to actually do work. Clearly the dissertation work is going to wait until April. Of course, since my passport hasn't come, it seems I have a whole extra week to devote to school work!
