So, for those who don't regularly check Stories of Arda and who like character introspectives and Aragorn, try this fic.
I'll warn that it's long and that, besides a few chapters, there is virtually no dialogue. It is Aragorn's story right before LOTR when Gandalf forsakes the quest for Gollum and Aragorn is left to hunt the wild alone, finding Gollum and ultimately taking him to Thranduil to guard (and we know how well that went). Each chapter is basically (not always) a day in the life of Aragorn's solo quest, but the author has both characters down to a T and the description is worthy of Tolkien himself.
It's on chapter 35 and Aragorn is only about half way to Thranduil at this point, having left from the edges of Mordor after parting with Gandalf. So, a while to go yet, and probably plenty of adventure to be had. What I'm really enjoying is picturing Andy Serkis' Gollum in this and the facial expressions the author describes are spot on.
Worth the read.
