There's an Icon Now and EVERYTHING
Jan. 4th, 2013 05:00 pmSo, baring the things I need to order from Amazon (which I should do sooner rather than later; Jarvis needs a case), I am pretty much packed. And with everything in the backpack (including the clothes I will be wearing on my body and therefore don't actually count in total weight) I have 7.5kg! I tried it on. It seems to heavy when I pick it up by the handle but once on it's really not that bad. I mean, that's not actually that much weight. I will be grateful for it come May. Or somewhere at 5000ft on Day 1.
My hiking buddy and I are going to have a meet next week and watch The Way and start looking at flights, which is kind of being serious about this whole thing as you can get. Kind of scary, in fact. I am massively out of shape and know I need to get back to the gym. Which is tomorrow's plan. I am feeling pretty good jet-lag wise today and the migraine is gone, so no excuses anymore. I just have to start slow and work up instead of overdoing it on day one and not being able to move for the next three days. Can't afford that.
I still haven't decided on tech to bring yet. I mean, the mobile is going without the charger, for emergencies. Chantel's too. I don't want to carry the camera because it weighs too much, so that means if I want photos it has to be the iPod. Which is fine, actually. It doesn't take fantastic zoom photos, but it does fine with landscapes and the point is not to return will a million photos, but enjoy the experience while there. There's a flash, so it's okay for night time too. And it weighs almost nothing. However, I can't get all my music to transfer to it, so then I have to take my Nano too, which is fine except I think that battery might be shot. I should look and see what a Shuffle costs these days...I can probably manage with a 2GB. Should have bought one on Boxing Day at Best Buy for $30. Oh well. Hopefully it's okay for a day's walk, at least. I can charge it each night if necessary because it doesn't take long to charge, at least and I have to take the charger for the Touch anyways. I think that works best. I've got books on my Touch to read, music on my Nano to listen to and voice recording if needed that way on a huge harddrive. But it should take a while to fill up the pages of the diary I bought.
Apparently Chantel and I are going to write a book. I have no idea how that is going to turn out, but I'm game to try!
I am going to go make a MASSIVE cup of tea in my Tim Hortons much that Daddy gave me for Xmas. And then watch telly and try not to think about the report I have to write tomorrow.
