Writer's Block
Dec. 9th, 2011 03:06 pmI usually ignore the 'Writer's Block' section on my LJ Homepage, but hey, sometimes they're interesting (though the answers rarely are). Today's is, have you ever met anyone famous?
Well, firstly, what do you define as famous? But if we're going with the general description of well-known (rather than just A-List Hollywood, which I'm sure is some people's definition), then I have! The answers (at least the first few pages of comments I read) are funny, because almost all of them are basically a no.
But hey: John Barrowman, Craig Parker (iffy on celebrity status perhaps), Michael Burgess, Prince Andrew (and I've been within feet of the Queen and Prince Philip), John McDermott; I have been 3 feet from David Tennant, 10 ft from Jude Law and had Sir Patrick Stewart walk right by me (before I realised who it was); and I saw Pope John Paul speak in person in front of St. Peter's when I was 17.
Not too shabby, me thinks! I've also met about a half dozen people who I knew, but I don't consider famous.
As for people I'd like to meet: Steven Moffat, Robert Downey Jr., Johnny Depp (please?), Obama (while he is still President - fat chance) and Dame Judy Dench (and while we're at that, Dame Maggie Smith too please!). And probably a whole wack of others, but those are the ones that come to mind first.
