Pirates of the Caribbean 3
Jun. 10th, 2007 04:40 pmI think the problem with this franchise is that it's predictable. I figured this out about 3/4 of the way through movie one. It kinda backfired in movie two.
This time it didn't really matter because I got the ending I wanted (both the Jack sailing off into the sunset ending and the Will and Elizabeth end up alive (well, mostly) and together ending).
I could comment on this thing to death. But I'd bore myself as well as you and really, Kate is the only one who would care and Kate has already seen this thing to death. So, I'll comment on my disappointments instead, because they are a much shorter list.
-I wanted a sword fight scene. Not Jack and Jones's piddly little fight, but something like the waterwheel extravaganza in movie two
-the "she has sex once and gets pregnant and then raises the kid herself" thing is kinda overdone
-Norrington didn't deserve such a good death
-the Beckett going down with his ship monstrosity was faaar too overdone even for Pirates (and apparently I can't even hear the name 'Beckett' anymore without immediately thinking SGA - doomed I tell you, DOOMED)
The music, however, was better than 1 or 2. Out to buy the CD soon as I can. I'm not sure I'd go see it again, but I also don't have time to see it, so that kind of works out.
