There are days I hate myself.

Today is one of those days. For some reason I can't explain, I went to bed last night thinking about Antarctica.

I woke up this morning, discovered that the Canadian Geographic that came in yesterday included a map of said continent, and sat down to figure out where the Ancient base is...was.

Again, I hate myself.

Of course, I only have so much to work with, but with the known location of McMurdo, one can postulate the maximum distance of a helicopter flight, and with only about 180* to work with (since the other 180* is either sea or ice shelf), one can narrow the search parameters down to somewhere between the Geologists Range and the Cook Mountains.

I really, really, really hate myself right now.

So, pretty much, if you fly directly south towards the pole from New Zealand, one should be able to, theoretically, fly over the base. If I had to guess, I'd say it's west of Mt. McClintock, which is roughly 10,000 ft high and is part of the Cook Mountains. Second choice is Mt. Kirkpatrick, roughly 14,000 ft and just north of the Geologists Range, and actually part of the Queen Alexandra Range. Also, it's right beside Mt. Elizabeth and just north of Mt. Markham. And I have a thing for continuity.

Excuse me while I go kill myself. And then maybe write some crazy!Fic.
