Dear authors on Fanfiction.net,
If you are twelve years old, poorly educated, unable to spell or grammar check your own work, incapable of using capital letters in their proper place, or refuse to follow the advise of the people who take their time to review your stories and tell you that all of these things apply to you, then do the entire world a favour and do not post your stories.
Sincerely,
Amy
I'm just really tired of all of them. If you are incapable of capitalizing your title, then for the love of all that is good, don't post! I know that I wrote my first fanfic at the age of twelve. I know this because a)I remember doing it, b)I remember exactly what fandom it was for, and c)I have it saved on my hard-drive. And I have read it many times, and low and behold it is a)almost devoid of spelling and grammar errors, b)sounds plausable in the fandom it was written for, and c)is actually good!
So why does so much of the 10-15 female population have such a challenge? I was not a good writer when I was younger. I am a good writer now because I wrote when I was younger, and took the help people gave me to make me a better writer. But I didn't post or even show my work to anyone unless it was actually good/worth it/correct. Why do all the twelve year olds in the world think that the rest of us want to read their crap? And even more, want to review it? People don't review my stories and they're worth reviewing!
I'm going to spend next weekend transfering my stories to The Last Ship. They will continue to remain on ff.net, and new ones will continue to be posted, but I seriously don't care anymore. The intelligence level of the majority of people that still frequent ff.net must be considerably below average. Or people are just generally stupid and thoughtless.
I am going to the pub tonight. I plan to drink; hang out with friends; help Katie and gang pick a Shakespeare play to butcher tomorrow; and all around have a good time. And then I am going to do it again tomorrow night. Cheers.

Date: 2008-01-26 04:19 pm (UTC)To make up for yesterday, Deana (who's stories I was reading all last year) reviewed almost every chapter of the SGA drabbles compilation I posted on ff.net. It was nice.
