I caved. The TARDIS landing is now my Windows startup sound. But I found the Dalek logon/logoff .wavs and I'd use them, but they are very loud even with my volume set at minumum.
You know, after 12 years in sci-fi, you'd think I would have learned how not to go ga-ga over a new obsession. Apparently I am just that pathetic.

Date: 2007-11-03 10:51 am (UTC)-Go to http://www.dwwa.net/tardis.htm
-Pick the one you want (I chose TARDIS Takeoff from Highlanders after careful listening, but hunt around)
-right click and save...somewhere you can find it
-if you have Vista, it's easy to change your sounds, if you have XP I have no memory of how to do it, but you can probably figure it out
-it should be under the same place you change your desktop background, but if that direct access does not work, go to Control Panel and search for sounds
-you want to change the one that says Windows Logon (or the one that is Exit Windows depending on which one you're after); just select that sound and then at the bottom it'll give you the option to browse your computer...find the file you saved and then apply it and
VOILA! Your laptop is now a TARDIS. Too bad it doesn't travel in time and space. :D
