New (read: now admitting to) Obsessions
Oct. 12th, 2007 09:58 pm1) ReGenesis
It's filmed in Toronto. It's set in Toronto. I has good acting. It has cool plots. It's all about the science. It may be the only show I do not watch for the pretty. Huh, never thought I'd say that. Alright, not mostly for the pretty.
2) Torchwood
Yeah, I caved. And then I realized it's frakking cool! And they have The Best Hidden Base Ever. Still...definitely watch for the pretty. Although (Kate?) I am slightly freaked by the fact that John Barrowman looks earily like a young(er) Mark Harmon. I'll get over it.
3) Doctor Who
What? I moved to England. I'd be nuts if I didn't, right? Also, I am very very bored right now and David Tennant is pretty. But I proudly declare I suffered through the Rose episodes! Weirdly, she grew on me...a little. I still like Martha better though.
Martha: "So, magic and stuff. It's all a bit Harry Potter."
Doctor: "Wait until you read Book 7. Oh, I cried."

Date: 2007-10-13 11:20 am (UTC)However, I really love this idea of time travel and events in the past linking up with events in the future and, now that I think of it, they really need to do time travel on SGA, because they should be able to come up with something good after Moebius. Also, I just love time travel.
Hey, it's getting lighter out! Might be able to get to the library relatively dry.

Date: 2007-10-13 08:46 am (UTC)It 'just' finished it's third season, and S4 premieres early next year (on Canadian tv) so it's a good time to get hooked.
Basically, the show revolves around the made-up company NorBAC (North American Biotechnology Advisory Commission - hey, I've got that memorized now). It's a company headquartered in Toronto, but run jointly by Mexico, Canada and the States. Their job, simply, is to investigate anything suspicious in the biological department. So, virus, outbreaks (especially outbreaks), biological terrorism, etc. The show is designed so that every episode leads to another, and then another, etc. So it keeps you coming back for more. I like it because it is scarily real; I mean, these are things we are/will be dealing with and biological terrorism is happening now. So it kinda hits home...without hitting home, since most of the terrorism is US based.
Was that simply enough? I tend to ramble.
If you are download enabled, go here for season 1 and half of season 2:

It's pretty much like youtube, and I know you watch that. As for season 3, I had to get it off very illegal, and paid for download sites, but you can probably find it elsewhere, or wait and rent it when it comes out on DVD. Which should be before season 4 premieres, I believe.
Have fun!
