Those are so pretty! I really like the textures you get in the stonework and the sharp shadows of the architecture. Are oils hard to work with? I have an inexpensive set but I've never used them before. People make them sound somewhat intimidating. Thats quite the scene you tackled in the commisiony one too. Wow. :)

The green-grey contrast in the alleyway piece is really really pretty, and I totally believe about the bricks!

Oil is a very forgiving medium. But it's one that takes a great deal of patience to work with. A detailed painting can take weeks to complete simply because oil takes 3-4 days to dry once applied to canvas. Anything that involves layers takes weeks to get through. But it always turns out spectacularly in the end!
