Hilarious; another of my LJ friends is contemplating jumping off the bandwagon because of this news (she objects to the inclusion of non-Hobbit material). Poles apart!

Peter Jackson said at Comic Con he had enough material for a third movie. And then the studio said, well, hell yeah, more money for us! So...it's not completely confirmed but is a VERY GOOD possibility.
