Legend of the Seeker got renewed for a second series. I am insanely pleased about this, as I am quite starting to enjoy the fact that the tv series is seperate from the books. It makes it even more fun when unexpected things happen or new characters show up. But the things I loved about the book are still there. Ultimately, moving between mediums is difficult, and I know we all had our own problems with LOTR, but I still adore those movies.

For me, LotS is sort of all new (except, not). I like being on the edge of my seat. And now I get another series of it! Specially since the rest of the Sword of Truth books aren't lasting me as long as I thought they would.

Damn reading speed. Or damn Terry Goodkind for reeling me in so fast I can't stop!

Really? I haven't seen LotS, so I can't comment on that, but I tried to re-read the Goodkind recently (with the intention of remembering what was going on so as to read the last couple, which I hadn't previously) and I'm stuck part way through Soul of the Fire. It's sitting on the shelf right in front of me (between museum books and decidedly non-museum DVDs) being ignored. I discovered on re-reading several things that I hadn't noticed the first time I read, when I was all caught up in the story: the prose is bad. Not JKR bad, but bad. Richard is dull. Kahlan is perfect and I have no reason to like her. I don't believe in Richard and Kahlan's relationship. It's there in book one, I can see their attraction to each other, then after that we are just told to accept that they are madly in love, without ever really seeing any evidence for in their interactions. And they have no problems. They love each other entirely and without question. And I got bored.

Yes, the prose is bad. But I've read much worse. And JKR is only one of many.

Somewhere about the middle of Soul of Fire I did loose interest, but I have never failed to finish a book I've started so I kept reading. It gets better at the end. And Faith of the Fallen is proving a very different kind of book.
