It's finally happened...

There are two things you need to know to start. One is that pretty much everyone in the office knows I am at least an LOTR geek. Most people also know I am a sci-fi geek. Steven does not know. The Second is that Steven is the kind of guy who teases....constantly. In that annoying way. Also, he will throw anything you say back in your face.
So, the conversation went as follows.
Steven: I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help.
Me: You are welcome.
S: It went well this year.
M: Yes it did, I hope it does next year. I, however, will not be here to worry about it.
S: Oh, where ya going?
M: I will be in Greece. Or possibly Rome. Writing my dissertation.
S: Cool. What did you major in?
M: Classical Archaeology.
S: No, really? Cool!
M: ::smiles::
S: So, are you a Stargate fan?
M: ::stares:: ::stares some more:: ::stares still more:: ::ponders how these two things coincide:: ::ponders whether to tell the truth:: Uh, yes.
S: Really?
M: Yes. How do you know about Stargate?
S: Oh, my wife loves it. Has all the DVDs. Atlantis too.
M: Really.
S: Yeah, cool.
M: ::decides to take the opportunity and throw Steven off his feet:: Yeah, would you believe it? I got into archaeology because of Stargate. Wanted to be Daniel Jackson.
S: Shit, really? You're kidding!
M: Needed something to major in. Should have gotten in to Egyptology though. They get all the cool discoveries. We get nothing.
S: Yeah, but then you'd have to live in Egypt. That would suck.
M: Yes, yes it would.
.......
S: Hey, don't you think Gab (fellow employ sitting in the same room who just cut off all of his hair) looks like that Gou'ld. What's his name? Ba'al?
A: Yes, yes he does. ::squees:: He doesn't have the cool clothes though.
S: No.
I have no idea how he made the leap from archaeology to Stargate fan. I know why I do, because the two go together in my life and always have, but Steven? Am weirded out. Also, pleasantly surpised.
It was one of <i>those</i> days. I spent most of it laughing and very little of it working. Oops.
